our drive to St. Louis MO and Nashville TN. Sure wish Pam could have been with us, but someone had to run the Gruene Grind Coffee Company! Besides, it was just a bunch of old timers driving their old Dodge Chargers getting together for a little “family” reunion. We drove our ’66 Red/White Dodge Charger.
Me and Pieper started out driving to St. Louis to visit my family where I proceeded to eat my way through my home town. Old favorite comfort food like White Castle, Steak n’Shake, Imo’s Pizza, Ted Drews Frozen Custard (twice a day). But we saved the best for last – my sister’s home made baked spaghetti!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
After four days there, we headed south to Nashville to meet up with Dodge Charger friends from all over the United States. It was great visiting with folks most of whom it’s been two years or more. Nashville was crazy with benefit concerts supporting the recent flood and those displaced. Also got to visit with a friend who sold everything and moved to Nashville to follow her dream of becoming a singer/songwriter – it only takes ONE song!! I’m praying she makes it and is having fun. Maybe one day it will be me and Pam … you never know!!
Wrote a new song while we were on the road … it’s called The Highway Song, how appropriate! If Pam is up for it, I’d like to give it a road test tomorrow night, see what you all think about it.
But right now I’m just happy to be back in TEXAS and even happier to be back playing at the Gruene Grind Coffee Company tomorrow night! Hope to see everyone out there.
Happy Anniversary Gruene Grind!! Hope you’re around for a LONG time!!
