our drive to St. Louis MO and Nashville TN. Sure wish Pam could have been with us, but someone had to run the Gruene Grind Coffee Company! Besides, it was just a bunch of old timers driving their old Dodge Chargers getting together for a little “family” reunion. We drove our ’66 Red/White Dodge Charger.
Me and Pieper started out driving to St. Louis to visit my family where I proceeded to eat my way through my home town. Old favorite comfort food like White Castle, Steak n’Shake, Imo’s Pizza, Ted Drews Frozen Custard (twice a day). But we saved the best for last – my sister’s home made baked spaghetti!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
After four days there, we headed south to Nashville to meet up with Dodge Charger friends from all over the United States. It was great visiting with folks most of whom it’s been two years or more. Nashville was crazy with benefit concerts supporting the recent flood and those displaced. Also got to visit with a friend who sold everything and moved to Nashville to follow her dream of becoming a singer/songwriter – it only takes ONE song!! I’m praying she makes it and is having fun. Maybe one day it will be me and Pam … you never know!!
Wrote a new song while we were on the road … it’s called The Highway Song, how appropriate! If Pam is up for it, I’d like to give it a road test tomorrow night, see what you all think about it.
But right now I’m just happy to be back in TEXAS and even happier to be back playing at the Gruene Grind Coffee Company tomorrow night! Hope to see everyone out there.
Happy Anniversary Gruene Grind!! Hope you’re around for a LONG time!!

LIVE AT THE GRUENE GRIND COFFEE COMPANY ....
Will there be anyone out tonight ... anyone in town visiting Gruene ... Pam and I are hitting it off tonight at the Gruene Grind at around 7:30pm. Come early and get the couch, it has to be the most comfortable seat in the house :) AND you'll be first in line for my favorite strawberry/banana smoothie. There's a lot happening all around the San Antonio New Braunfels Gruene area so while you're out, stop by the coffee house and see us.
It's been WAY too long since we last played, except for rehearsing of course. But it's just not the same when we don't see your smiling faces in the coffee house. I can't speak for Pam, but for me - there's nothing better than watching YOU enjoy yourself AND singing along with the 'oldies' we throw in our sets.
We finally got to record "Oklahoma Skies" last week thanks to Don, my favorite choir director engineer. He's one of the most talented singers/musicians/technicians I've had the pleasure of working with and he's turning into one of the most talented engineers. Thanks again Don for your patience with us in getting this little project done. Now if I could just get some down time to write more songs ... that would be a blessing. Maybe on this upcoming road trip. Who knows.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to playing at the Gruene Grind tonight. Come on out ... you never know who's going to be there or what Pam and I will be playing!! Later.

Great Night at Gruene Grind
We had a great time Saturday night. So many friends came out to sing along with us. And there were quite a few new faces in the crowd. Thanks to everyone who came out to New Braunfels! And yes -- Geri did sing that new song she's been working on. :-)
Our next event is scheduled for Saturday, May 29 at Gruene Grind Coffee Company in New Braunfels. It will be a holiday weekend so we hope folks will come out and enjoy the evening.

Practice, practice, practice
Wednesday night practice . . . fun time! We were both tired but we got a lot accomplished. Ended with a fun little song that Geri has been working on. Maybe we'll have it ready for May . . . :-)
We were both really tired; our day jobs can be pretty wicked. But you know, last night was the first time the Beagles must have been just as tired as us. I don't remember them barking ... Not Once! AND I don't remember Pieper failing at his best immitation of the Dog Whisperer (big smile).
I agree with Pam ... that little song I pulled out last night was fun and pretty catchy. Makes you want to tap your toes and sing along. MAYBE we can do a run thru - just for fun - BEFORE we start this Saturday night; you know, for the folks who come early?!

New Music
Hi everybody - it's Geri.
Thanks to Pam's added guitar licks and harmonies, my latest song "Oklahoma Skies" is complete. I suppose you could always add a little bass or mandolin or violin, but then I suppose no song would ever really be complete. All I know is we were asked to "play it again" on the evening of its debut.
AND, if you happen to be at the Gruene Grind Coffee Company THIS coming Saturday - 5/1/2010 - say around 7:30pm - you might get to hear the short version of how the song was born. It's a beautiful story.
Once we get it recorded, I think the first pressing should be delivered to the couple who inspired it. They don't even know it's been written much less about them!! What a fun surprise that'll be.
